The House
A quick tip to start: Since there are not many large houses so close to the beach, early booking is recommended. This non-smoking house for guests without pets is always rented out weekly from Saturday to Saturday. Feel right at home in this 170 m² holiday home, located just 600 meters from the best part of Mellbystrand’s beach. It seems like something straight out of an Astrid Lindgren story and was actually one of the very first summer houses built when tourism started here 100 years ago. The house is quietly yet centrally located, only a few hundred meters from the best section of the beach, the Strandhotell, restaurants, a beauty salon, etc.
Large living room with a veranda (library) and satellite TV. 3 bedrooms (one with a double bed, 1.60 m wide, and garden views; one with a double bed, 1.60 m wide, and a large balcony; one with two single beds and a small balcony). Large, fully equipped kitchen with stove/oven, sink, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, blender, toaster, coffee machine, and all essential kitchen utensils.
Basement with washing machine, heating units in living room and bedrooms, fiber-optic internet connection, toilet, and a large shower accessed from the living room (as the house’s original architecture did not allow for a large bathroom to be installed). Since the house is fully equipped and features fiber-optic internet, it is also well-suited for remote work (home office) and long-term rentals.
Large garden with mature trees, a lawn for playing and grilling, outdoor furniture, a hammock, and a basketball hoop. There is another house on the property (referred to on this site as the “Log Cabin”), but this poses no disruption as the garden spans 1,400 m². You bring your own bed linen and towels and handle the thorough final cleaning yourself.
The Beach: In just a few minutes on foot, you reach the 13 km long sandy beach of Mellbystrand. It holds the “Blue Flag” designation, and the water quality is excellent. The beach is safe for children, as the water remains shallow near the shore. Protective dunes invite you to sunbathe and play.
The Location: The house is quietly situated in a top location of Mellbystrand, just 300 meters from restaurants, a beauty salon, tennis court, exercise trails in the forest, and the famous Kattegattleden cycle path, which stretches 370 km along the coast. It is 3 km to the salmon river, though you can also fish in the surrounding lakes or the sea. A large shopping center and a medical clinic are also located 3 km away.
Nearby Activities: Numerous leisure activities are available nearby: tennis, go-kart track, river steamboat, downhill biking, summer toboggan run, windsurfing, kitesurfing, canoeing, adventure waterpark, elk park, ice cream factory, climbing gym, cinema, theater, play center, skate park, golf at one of the region’s many courses, aviation museum, railway museum, bowling, Tropikarium, art museum, and much more.
